DMT/psychedelic theory of alien life. This is the idea that the progression of most if not all intelligent life eventually leads to a point where a species becomes so advanced that they figure out a way to transcend material reality and embed their consciousness deep into the information layer of reality. What many people refer to as spiritual/astral realms are really this deep substructure of reality - a fluid reality of pure consciousness. The beings people report during DMT trips inhabit this space.
This layer of reality is accessible to any conscious being, but as physical beings that consume matter for energy, our perception of reality must be simulated by our minds in such a way that benefits our survival in this material reality. Think of it like the difference between computer code and the GUI of the computer program. The program is fundamentally made up of lines of code, but since it does not benefit the user to see this code, it is hidden from us and we instead interface with computers using a GUI. In a similar fashion, our minds must have a mechanism in place for blocking noise from these other layers of reality, or else we would not be able to properly navigate our environment.
Overlapping realities like this where a person’s mind is unable to filter the noise would manifest as something that looks very much like schizophrenia. I'm of the opinion that this is what is going on in schizophrenic minds. Many schizophrenics hear voices that give them information that clearly indicates communication with something outside the mind. At times they are given information that the schizophrenic person could not possibly had access to themselves. It seems likely that some of these hallucinations are not entirely in their heads and they are instead tapping into something real that manifests in a very chaotic and frightening way because their mind is unable to properly filter or make sense of these overlapping realities.
When someone smokes DMT it is not the DMT itself that is causing the hallucinations, but instead the DMT that removes these blocks that our mind uses to filter out noise from this deeper layer of reality. The astral realm is associated with dreaming and many believe it to be a real inhabited space and not just purely a product of the mind. Interesting to note that endogenous DMT peaks during sleep. If DMT truly works as a reality modulator that removes our minds ability to filter overlapping realities, then this would seem to support the idea of an astral realm. Since our brain believes us to be safe during sleep, the brain no longer needs to filter overlapping realities and during sleep we have limited access to this space.
The reason we don't see aliens out in space is because greater and greater civilizational expansion on galactic scales is unnecessary when you have the option to exist outside of spacetime entirely. The period of time where a civilization/species exists as strictly material beings confined to 3d+1 spacetime is only a blip in the timescale of the Universe. 2001 a space odyssey seems to be communicating a similar perspective on alien life. The starchild at the end of the movie seems to represent this transition from a material being to one of pure energy. Since they exist as beings of pure energy/information, this makes them masters of reality manipulation, able to manifest in our reality in any form they please and perform actions we perceive as magic. This would explain the tremendous and seemingly nonsensical variety of alien beings reported. The form these beings take does not have any bearing on what they actually are.
