Greetings!
I want to start by humbly admitting that I, alongside many others are ignorant to what could be in the near slash far future.
Let’s get straight into my hypothesis albeit theories.
-
We can colonise planets to a certain extent but I do not believe that we are in an era of colonisation anymore and we simply cannot sustain multiple planets with only one home planet being the source of all resources - especially on Mars or most other close planets. This is like trying to use the energy for one device and expecting two to run.
-
Furthermore we are in the age of an exceeding advancement in technology. A very infant technology, yes - but if you had saw a Tesla a 100 years ago people would think it’s alien. Technology is going to become alien to even us in a certain time frame.
This brings me to my point about the future. Colonisation is nothing compared to the limits of tech.
The physical world is extremely dangerous, hard to navigate and very expensive. There will always be an inevitable doom for any civilisation as time ripens slow whilst problems rise fast.
If we could eventually upload our consciousness into a super computer engraved in a planets core for example we could have a hive mind of intelligence residing in a virtual universe - essentially granting an infinite intelligence of the universe. Perhaps compare it future version of Google Earth that people could improve to a futuristic virtual world you can reside in with an uploaded consciousness. Basically a civilisation.
Also - uploading consciousness would grant immortality. A different kind compared to a biological immortality but still very much immortal assuming we are advanced enough to protect our technology.
Extra Philosophy: Where are the Aliens? - As a species we 200,000 years old which is 0.014% of the universes existence. For two species to coincide the odds would have to be great. I would probably mark the average advanced civilisation lasting anywhere from 100 to maybe a million years if being optimistic.
With these odds - even if there has been 1000 advanced civilisations the chances of us existing together simultaneously are extremely low.
Or perhaps they reside in a virtual universe - as my hypothesis suggests.
I would love do develop and look into this. If you want to assemble a team with me we can try make a project
